The Creative Path and Life Reminiscences

Armen Ajemyan

Read

[in Armenian]

When I was a student my first girlfriend was the pianist Galya Melkoumyan. We became much closer on her birthday and spent the next two years together. I was sure we’d marry. But her father, Martin Sergevich, who turned out to be a KGB colonel, called me one fine day and said that he wanted to speak man to man. He asked that I not think about marrying his girl since it would negatively affect his career. He argued that he couldn’t be an in-law with a repatriate family. He said that in his family, he was the only one to reach such a high place. Thus, the result would be very bad.
