The train flew on, carrying thousands of pathetic old and young, and also innocent children. And we didn’t know where they were taking us. Some were talking amongst themselves about exile and we questioned whether they were exiling us. But I believed that they only banished those who were criminals. I thought to myself - what have I done to be exiled? The hours also flew by. People began eating breakfast, whatever they had. Every one filled their belly with a morsel and some had nothing with them. They remained hungry.
